Background

An Instructor has expertise in a particular discipline which is taught proficiently up to level 4 Certificate (level 6 Diploma, if applicable). An Instructor will be engaged with industry to maintain the currency of his/her qualification and take responsibility for his/her professional development. An Instructor is involved in the work of their Department and takes on administrative roles that assist the Department to function.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Trade Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Avionic/ Mechanical) OR Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Avionic/ Mechanical) – (Level 4) OR equivalent
  • At least 7-8 years in an approved aircraft maintenance organization (145C)
  • Basic License LWTR
  • Plus, Certificate in Teaching TVET (level 5)/ Cert IV in Training & Assessment/ National Certificate / Diploma in Tertiary Teaching

Note: Applicants who do not hold the specified teaching qualification should be willing to upgrade.

  • Plus, valid Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Human Factors training
  • OR PG Diploma/ Certificate plus Bachelors’ degree in the relevant field (FQF level 8) with at least 2 years in an approved aircraft maintenance organization (145C) / teaching experience
  • OR Bachelors (Hons) in the relevant field (FQF level 8) with at least 2 years in an approved aircraft maintenance organization (145C)/ teaching experience
  • Basic License LWTR
  • Administrative duties

Desirable:

  • Basic License/ LAME with at least 1 type rating
  • Is actively engaging with industry and demonstrates contribution to scholarship.
  • University Service (administration)
  • Community Service (contributions to the wider profession)
