Background (Assistant Professor)

An Assistant Professor has developed his/her own research and teaching interests and is becoming known nationally for his/her work. They will publish regularly in peer-reviewed international journals or other appropriate outlets and are likely to have edited collections of work or meeting proceedings. They will also have chaired sessions at, or have been part of, the organising committees of academic conferences or relevant disciplinary meetings. They should be beginning to show Academic Leadership in their teaching and/or their research speciality and be involved in administrative duties at least at Department/School level. 

Person Specification (Assistant Professor)

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s in Nursing and PhD Qualification in Nursing/ Health Related Field OR
  • Bachelor’s in Nursing and Master’s in Nursing Specialty plus 3 years post Masters teaching or clinical experience OR 
  • Bachelor’s in Nursing and Master’s in Nursing Specialty recognized by Fiji Nursing Council as a specialist nurse plus 3 years post Masters clinical work experience.
  • 9 years’ full time equivalent relevant clinical practice or university teaching experience
  • Demonstrated evidence in learning and teaching and the potential to become an effective teacher
  • Industrial/clinical experience in the area of expertise
  • Demonstrated evidence of undertaking consultancies in your area of expertise.

Applicants must demonstrate evidence of meeting at least one or all the three criteria as listed below:

Salary (Assistant Professor): FJD68,352.00 gross per annum plus 10% superannuation

 Background (Lecturer)

To operate effectively as part of a team of academic, technical and administrative colleagues in order to facilitate learning and the advancement of knowledge through teaching, research/publication, consultancy and administration. The Lecturer is also expected to develop and carry out relevant independent research projects to extend knowledge in the appropriate subject area and assist the Head of School and the College Dean in the delivery of the programme covering academic units, research work and other related activities required by the programme.

More specifically, the incumbent is responsible for carrying out teaching, course co-ordination and curricula development for all levels from Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Undergraduate Degrees as part of development duties and other activities as required at the undergraduate and, later, postgraduate levels.

Person Specification (Lecturer)

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s in Nursing and Postgraduate Diploma in any Specialist Nursing field and Registered by the Fiji Nursing Council (e.g. Nurse Practitioner/ Midwifery etc.) OR
  • Bachelor’s in Nursing and Masters in any Health-related field or Master’s in Education
  • Industrial/clinical experience in your area of expertise.
  • Provide evidence of undertaking consultancies in your area of expertise
  • 6 years’ full time equivalent relevant clinical practice or university teaching experience.
Salary (Lecturer): FJD49,174.00 gross per annum plus 10% superannuation
