Background Building Services / Plumbing
An Assistant Instructor is qualified to teach units up to Level 6 Diploma, but is normally not required to develop the curriculum.  Assistant Instructors are full members of their department and should be starting to take on limited administrative duties.

The appointee will be responsible to the Dean, through the Head of Department and will be required to develop and teach Building Services (Plumbing & Sheet metal) related units at Certificate level. Duties include carrying out research and consultancy activities in the areas relevant to the needs of the region, activities related to teaching such as regular review of units and programmes, upgrade of equipment and resources, development of new programmes and mentoring of junior staff and students.  Activities associated with tutorials, lecturing, exam paper preparation & marking are to be implemented according to policies and procedures.  Appointee will also be required to undertake other administrative duties as directed by the Dean of College. 

Person Specification:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Building Services or similar discipline majoring in Plumbing or related fields.

• Higher qualification
• Plumber’s license with 3 years’ work experience
• Ability to undertake administrative duties of the department
• Industry engagement for Professional Development
• Prior tertiary teaching experience 

Salary Base salary of FJ$30,695.00 plus 5% superannuation.
