The Appointee will be responsible to Director, National Training & Productivity Centre through Head of Training, and will be required to sew and produce quality garments following patterns or as instructed.

The patterns and instructions are liable to change with each project. 

Appointee will be responsible for:
i. Stitching together full garments or fabric products by following a pattern or instruction.
ii. Feeding garment or textile sections through the machine
iii. Checking that finished work matches pattern instructions
iv. Carrying out basic maintenance, such as cleaning and oiling machines
v. Following health and safety guidelines.
vi. Changing machine settings for different jobs
vii. Maintain an inventory of materials, tools and supplies.
viii. Resolve problems and imperfections.
ix. Keep a record of defective materials and finished products.
x. Using fabric cutter to cut and trim a variety of manufactured items 
The Appointee should have:
xi. Good practical skills to use machinery and assemble products
xii. The ability to follow written plans
xiii. The ability to work quickly and accurately, working to deadlines
xiv. An eye for detail and concern for quality
xv. The ability to work in a team and alone
xvi. A willingness to work flexibly
xvii. Concentration skills to work for long periods on repetitive tasks.
xviii. Be able to work with patterns.
xix. Able to use fabric cutter
xx. Good organization skills
xxi. The ability to operate different types of sewing machine
xxii. Competent in fixing problems, relating to machinery and stitching

Person Specification:
• Certificate in sewing and cutting with 3 years Industrial Experience.
• Handling/Operating of different types of machines. 
• Must have good communication skills

• Higher qualification in sewing

Salary FJ$5.00 per hour plus 5% superannuation.
