Background:
As a Financial Accountant, you will play a critical role in
maintaining the financial integrity of the University. Your responsibilities
include preparing audited financial statements, managing monthly reporting and
budgets, ensuring compliance with IFRS, and strengthening internal controls.
You will provide financial advice to stakeholders, oversee treasury functions,
and support projects and grants. This leadership role requires strong
analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to mentor and guide a
team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of
the University’s audited financial statements, ensuring full compliance with
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Oversee monthly
financial reporting, including management accounts, variance analysis, and
general ledger reconciliations.
- Monitor budgets, ensure
compliance and provide financial advice.
- Strengthen the
University’s internal control environment, review financial policies, and
support external and internal audits.
- Manage treasury and
banking operations, ensuring cash flow is optimized and financial records are
accurate and up to date.
- Provide advisory support
to academic and administrative units, ensuring sound financial practice and
compliance with university policies.
- Supervise and mentor a
team within the Financial Accounting unit to build capability and deliver
high-quality financial services.
Person Specification:
Essentials:
- A Degree in
Accounting/Financial Management.
- At least 5 years of
relevant financial and/or management accounting experience.
- Affiliate, provisional
or full membership (or working toward membership) of a recognized professional
accounting body.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS
and experience working in a computerized accounting environment.
- Demonstrated experience
in supervising teams, meeting tight deadlines, and providing high-quality
financial reporting.
Desirable:
- Experience within a
higher education or large-scale organizational environment.
- Expertise in project,
grant, and treasury accounting.
- Proven ability to manage
multiple deadlines in a complex institution.
- Strong stakeholder
engagement and customer service orientation.
Salary: FJD50,789.00 gross per annum plus 10% superannuation
