Background:
The Assistant Instructor will play an active role in the academic direction of courses including teaching, training, academic assessment and academic administration. More specifically, the incumbent is responsible for carrying out teaching, and course co-ordination for all levels from Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma and undergraduate degrees as part of development duties and other activities as required at the undergraduate level.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Diploma/ Advanced Diploma with 5 years of industry/ teaching experience (For areas which does not have a Diploma/ Advanced, the qualification can be substituted for Trade Certificate (FQF level 4) with at least 6 years industry/ teaching experience with License or Professional certification).
- Plus, Certificate in Teaching TVET (level 5)/ Cert IV in Training & Assessment/ National Certificate / Diploma in Tertiary Teaching.
- Note: Applicants who do not hold the specified teaching qualification should be willing to upgrade.
Desirable:
- More years of industrial experience (+5 years) with License or Professional Certification and Higher qualification with some teaching.
- Higher qualification.
- Has a good teaching track record.
- Industry engagement/attachment.
- University Service (administration).
- Community Service (contributions to the wider profession).
Note: The University will take into account the minimum qualification requirements (MQR) for the position alongside relevant experience and technical expertise during the recruitment and selection process. All three factors will be considered during the selection process when reaching a decision.
Salary: FJD32,875 plus 10% superannuation.
