Provide quality service and support to library, faculty, staff and patrons in the area of library emerging technology. Working in a support role with Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) users at all levels throughout the university and its partners. The position will be thoroughly knowledgeable about all aspects of the ILMS software and related database schema. 

He/she will be responsible for the development of digital resources and services throughout the university. This will involve creating, maintaining, updating and developing the FNU Library webpage and university’s range of digital resources, content building, thematic open repository, developing digital collections and databases, digital capture of events, digitization of material, facilitating access to all databases and assisting in creating a range of digital collaborations locally, nationally and internationally etc. Additionally assist in the management of campus libraries.

Key Responsibilities: 
• Externally liaise with all higher education IT services and related IT organisations on current trends and developments, problems solving and sharing of best practices related to information systems, repositories and digital libraries. 
• Frequently liaise with resource provider’s i.e. suppliers, vendors, professional bodies and other external organizations on matters relating to IT procurements, consultancy, technical support and information systems development. 
• Develop digital libraries that capture the original research outputs and other academic intellectual properties generated by the academicians and researchers of the university. 
• Develop shared technology infrastructure with similar libraries in Fiji and outside Fiji that supports dissemination of research information locally, nationally and internationally. 
• Suggest suitable IT systems/platforms for Library Management Systems (LMS), data curation, information repositories to support learning, teaching and research. 
• Develop an indigenous knowledge preservation mechanism by collecting, preserving and disseminating it in different formats and platforms to establish an infrastructure to support and develop teaching, learning and research related to localised knowledge. 

Person Specification:
• Master’s degree in Library Information Science/ Studies/System/Management with minimum of 5 years’ post qualifying experience in higher education Library and advance Computer knowledge necessary to perform technical-support related tasks.
• Knowledge of digital and technical services including PC and peripherals operations, databases, digital libraries, information repositories, open source software such as Greenstone, Dspace etc.
• Experience developing web applications with one or more of the following programming languages: Java, PHP, Ruby, Perl, or Python; strong UNIX or Linux skills including shell scripting experience.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.

• Preference will be given to applicants with ALIA, ALA and CILIP accredited degrees.
• Proven customer service experience.
• Advance knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to understand and interpret information and policies and to use written and oral expression to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. 

Salary Base salary of FJ$43,635.00 plus 10% superannuation
