Background The purpose of this position is to provide overall management for planning and implementing the overall technological solutions to the library services department of the University. This position also functions as the overall administrator for the Automated/computerized Library systems, coordinating with the system vendors and directs all system upgrades. He/She shall provide leadership and offer assistance and advice on all strategic areas relating to the ICT related library needs of the University and have the specific responsibility of planning, implementing and operating a highly advanced and efficient ICT strengthened library environment to support the University’s academic undertakings.
 
Key responsibilities:

• Administer and configure the Library’s integrated library system comprised of system administration, security, users, profiles, policies, circulation, acquisitions, cataloguing, serials management and statistical data reporting.
• Manage and lead the collecting, reporting, visibility and application of library data.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison with LMS vendor i.e. sirsidynix for integrated library systems and manages, implements and provides technical expertise for library software and systems.
• Collect, analyse and create reports and visualizations of library generated data related to library resources, services and instruction.
• Integrate and upgrade library systems to improve the user experience and proactively research, recommend, and develop technologically innovative services to match user needs.
• Provide technical and training support for the LMS management i.e. Horizon software and troubleshoot hardware and software problems. 
• Identify data needs that support student learning, retention, and scholarly communications in collaboration with other stakeholders.
• Increase the usability of library and research data resources that support scholarly communications.
• Collaborate on e-resources management, acquisition workflows, collections budget and related projects with library faculty.
• Participate in planning, assessment and continuous improvement of all library operations and services especially those related to information technology.
• Collaborate with colleagues on data gathering, evaluation of pricing, usage and other metrics to support budget processes and annual reporting requirements using evidence-based practices.
• Participate and conduct staff training on relevant LMS programs.
• Establish strategies and targets for development of the ICT related library facilities in line with FNU’s business objectives.
• Undertake research, investigations and studies as appropriate to ensure that FNU’s ICT related library infrastructure and user equipment is capable of meeting staff and student’s needs.
• Set standards, indicators and guidelines to ensure that all ICT staff involved in the operation of library knows what they are required to do in order to achieve the results.
• Manage library systems implementation as well as maintain, upgrade server and host administration.
• Conduct technology exploration, evaluation and technical risk management. Generate necessary reports and analysis for the purpose or providing accurate information.
• Perform general management of PaperCut Application as well as the overall administration of accounts that includes creation, management and termination of all accounts.
• Ensure the PaperCut application is performing to its optimum level and liaise with ICT for all server backup data.
• Ensure all PaperCut Managed printers are configured and performance is monitored and maintained on a daily basis.
• First point of contact (internal users and external vendor) for issues related to PaperCut Application and PaperCut Managed Printers.
• Manage all the issues regarding PaperCut Application and printers.
• Assist Senior Librarian (DLS&M) to handle or oversee staff recruitment, selection, supervision, evaluation and discipline.
• Knowledge and experience with e-resource access and management services. 
• Involve with the Local Library Association and/or regional and international professional association. 
• Attend Staff meetings and represent the University Librarian when and where required. Liaise regularly with other departments, colleges as and when required.
• Perform other duties that relate and contribute to the Library and Departmental goals and particularly the other duties, consistent with the role, as required from time to time by the University Librarian.
• Actively participate in the housekeeping 5S tasks such as the library is neat, clean, hygiene and presentable internal and external at all times.
• Ensure that all the procedures are in accordance with ISO 9001-2015.

 
Person Specification: 

Essential:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology with minimum of 5 years’ post qualifying experience in higher education or Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology and relevant working experience. 

Desirable:
• Demonstrated and effective project management and problem-solving skills with existing LMS software. 
• Knowledge of current and emerging systems i.e. Koha and trends in academic librarianship and in higher education. 
• Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse learners.
• Interest and/or experience with learning analytics.  

Salary Base salary of $34,105.00 plus 10% superannuation
