The intended mission of the Department of Public Health and Health Services Management (PHHSM) is to provide practical PH and HSM programmes that prepare and equip compassionate and competent work-ready health professional graduates, upskill training programmes suitable for PH and HSM health professionals, and lead research in PH and HSM that are relevant to the Region context in promoting and improving the quality of health of the people in the Pacific Region. The Health Services Management discipline teaches across multi-discipline within and across schools at CMNHS and is a key stakeholder to the Health Leaders and Managers in the MOHMS in the Pacific. 
The Professor of Public Health is expected to make an independent and outstanding contribution in the field of Public Health, and can demonstrate effective supervision at the PhD and Masters level, develop course content for newly PH approved programmes and also can develop new PH related curriculum relevant to the Pacific context. The incumbent is expected to play a major role and provide leadership in teaching, research and publications, consultancies, scholarship and academic administration.  

  The primary responsibility of the Professor of Public Health is to design, initiate and develop approved PH programme courses and to conduct teaching assigned to both postgraduate (PG) and undergraduate (UG) courses. Additionally, the Professor is to serve as an academic advisor to both academic staff and students; serve on department, school, college or university committees; engage in scholarly activities, and/or creative endeavours which contribute to the academic mission of the Department, School, College and University. Additionally, to be engaged in independent research, and to render service to the other health professionals or community which is relevant to the incumbents’ specialisation and experts. The successful applicant will also liaise closely with local and regional Ministry of Health, international health agencies, industry advisory members, government partners and industries to provide academic support for the HSM discipline, Department and School of Public Health and Primary Care.
Person Specification:
• PhD in Public Health OR Doctor of Public Health with more than 5 years’ experience in a professorial role.
• Outstanding record of research and high quality publications
• Excellent record in the leadership and supervision of early and mid-career academic staff and postgraduate students
• Proven record of excellence and leadership in teaching and learning including scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching 
• Demonstrated ability to design, coordinate and teach a range of undergraduate/postgraduate units including large service classes and specialised classes
• Show significant academic leadership and be involved in senior university service
• Track record of success in securing research funding from external sources
• Track record of quality research supervision for higher degree postgraduate students
• Demonstrated record or potential for writing research grants and generating research income 

• Demonstrate ability to take on administrative duties
• Demonstrated knowledge, skills and expertise in essential health management and or health systems. 
• Membership of professional relevant body

Salary Base salary of FJ$109,716.00 plus 10% superannuation
