Background The Estates & Facilities division of FNU is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for student learning, and also the highest quality support services. These are Accommodation services, Building Repair & Maintenance, Cafeteria services, Fleet services, and Security services.
The appointee will be required to:
•  Carry out general repair and maintenance duties and attending day to day electrical related routine maintenance and repair.
•  Assist with the inspection and in developing and implementing the preventive maintenance plans of the existing facilities for all required electrical upgrade and maintenance works.
•  Assist with the developing scope of works and contractor supervision in the checking of works as per standards and regulatory requirement.
•  Assist during the University events, emergency and disaster situation.
•  Attend all work orders efficiently in a timely manner for routine maintenance and respond to request for installation, repair and maintenance for all electrical related works.
•  Assist with maintenance and testing of the generator and load test.
•  Have the ability to read, interpret, and work from the design and floor plans; prepare scope of works, sketches of works and estimates of materials and labor cost, selection of materials to be used and work cooperatively with the team.
•  Identify electrical problems with variety of testing devices
•  Repair and replace wiring, equipment or fixtures using hard tools and power tools
•  Inspect electrical systems, equipment’s and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustments or repair and to ensure compliance with FEA standards.
•  Identify electrical problems with variety of testing devices
•  Have the tools and method of trade, applicable to local building codes.
•  Carry out any other duties assigned by the Manager Maintenance and Building Services.

Person Specification:
•  The appointee should have a Diploma in Electrical Engineering with 3 years’ relevant work experience OR a Trade Certificate/Certificate IV/ Certificate Class 1 in Electrical Engineering with 4 years of relevant work experience OR Apprenticeship in Electrical with 6 years of relevant work experience OR Certificate III/ Certificate Class 2/ Certificate Class 3 in Electrical with 6 years of relevant work experience OR candidates with more than 8 years of work experience in the same field. 
•  A valid Wiremen’s license. 

•  Valid driver’s license 
•  Similar work experience in a tertiary institution/hotel sector

Wage rate of $6.63/hr plus 10% superannuation.
