Background
The mission of the Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health (EEH) is to provide education programs that prepares compassionate and competent work-ready health professional graduates, upskill training programs suitable for professionals, and lead research in EEH and Public Health fields that are relevant to the Region to improve the health of people in the Pacific Region. The Epidemiology discipline teaches across multi discipline within and across schools at CMNHS and is a key stakeholder to the PPHSN body in the Pacific. 
The Assistant Professor of Epidemiology is expected to make an outstanding contribution in the field of epidemiology, can demonstrate effective supervision at the Masters level, develop course content for newly approved programmes and also can develop new curriculum relevant to the Pacific in Epidemiology. The incumbent is expected to play a major role and provide leadership in teaching, research, scholarship and academic administration. 
 
Key Responsibility:
The primary responsibility of an Assistant Professor in Epidemiology is to design and develop approved programme courses and to conduct teaching assigned to postgraduate (PG) and undergraduate (UG) courses. Additionally, the assistant professor is to serve as academic advisor to students; serve on department, school, college or university committees; engage in scholarly activities, and/or creative endeavors which contribute to the academic mission of the Department, School, College and University. In addition to be engaged in and lead independent research, and to render service to the professional or lay community which is relevant to the individual's academic specialty and also perform such other related tasks and duties as assigned. The successful applicant will also liaise closely with local and regional Ministry of Health and regional and international health agencies, industry advisory members, government partners and industries to provide academic support for the department and School of Public Health and Primary Care 
 
 Person Specification:
Essential: 
•  A PhD in Epidemiology or Biostatistics or PhD in the relevant Medical/Health Sciences field whose thesis focus was on Epidemiology and/or Biostatistics.
•  Research active

Desirable: 
•  Demonstrate ability to take on administrative duties
•  Demonstrate evidence of ongoing publications in ranked journals 
•  Display academic leadership in teaching and/or in research specialty
•  Prior teaching experience and/or Formal tertiary teaching qualification
•  Demonstrated knowledge, skills and expertise in essential epidemiological and/or biostatistics.

Salary Base salary of $56,942.00 plus 10% superannuation
