Background The School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is developing post graduate degree programmes for Masters and Doctor of Philosophy as per the College’s desire to offer the highest academic degree programmes in support of the university and nation’s vision for an educated and enabling Fiji society. True to the vision the school is now embarking on employing the right quality academic staff of international standing into the school to participate in teaching, mentoring and guidance of students and junior staff alike in order to achieve this noble goal.
The Professorship is the pinnacle of an academic career.  A Professor will be known internationally in their field.  They will publish in high quality, peer-reviewed international journals, are likely to have edited texts or written books in their subject of study, and be on committees/editorial boards outside the University.  They will show significant academic leadership by running a research programme, which will likely involve a group of researchers, and will have collaborations outside the University and probably internationally.  Professors will demonstrate evidence of leadership in curriculum/ discipline development at both a national and international level, and will be good teachers with their research informing their teaching.  A Professor will be involved in senior University Service – eg, they will sit on University committees that are responsible for issues such as staff appointments.  The Professor is a leader of the University and a leader in their specialist field.

Person Specification 
•  PhD in Electrical & Renewable Energy
•  Outstanding record of research and high quality publications
•  Excellent record in the leadership and supervision of early and mid-career academic staff and postgraduate students
•  Proven record of excellence and leadership in teaching and learning including scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching 
•  Demonstrated ability to design, coordinate and teach a range of undergraduate/postgraduate units including large service classes and specialised classes
•  Show significant academic leadership and be involved in senior university service
•  Track record of success in securing research funding from external sources
•  Track record of quality research supervision for higher degree postgraduate students
•  Demonstrated record or potential for writing research grants and generating research income 

•  Professional Membership in world renown engineering institutions with extensive (over 15 years) of post‐graduate degree industry work experience in electrical engineering or tertiary teaching, research & engineering programmes curriculum development.
•  A corporate member of a relevant and recognised engineering institution under the Washington Accord with either a formal tertiary teaching qualification or significant (normally 10 years or more) tertiary teaching experience. The incumbent should have high level research, consultant and teaching skills cognisant of an academic status that is recognized as a leading authority in the electrical engineering discipline.
•  Strong communication and time management skills and the ability to meet objectives within set deadlines with
•  High level inter‐personal, personnel management and leadership skills.
•  Ability to take on administrative duties.
•  Display academic leadership in teaching and in research.
•  Formal tertiary teaching qualification.
•  Prior teaching experience.
•  Experience in research degree students mentor and supervision

Salary Base salary of $109,716.00 plus 10% superannuation.
