Background A Lecturer is qualified to master’s level, and has expertise in a particular subject which is taught proficiently at undergraduate level.  A Lecturer is research active and is beginning to publish their work in peer-reviewed journals, mainly in lower quartile journals.  A Lecturer is involved in the work of their Department and takes on administrative roles that assist the Department to function
  The appointee will be responsible to the Dean, through the Head of Department and will be required to develop and teach Structural Engineering related units at undergraduate and post graduate level. Duties include carrying out research and consultancy activities in the areas relevant to the needs of the region, activities related to teaching such as regular review of units and programmes, upgrade of equipment and resources, development of new programmes and mentoring of junior staff and students.  Activities associated with tutorials, lecturing, exam paper preparation & marking are to be implemented according to policies and procedures.  Appointee will also be required to undertake other administrative duties as directed by the Dean of College.
 
Person Specification:
Essential
•  Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering. 

Desirable
•  Research active 
•  Formal tertiary teaching qualification OR
•  Prior teaching experience in the relevant field
•  Applicants must be aware of usage of civil engineering software. 

Salary Base salary of $42,248.00 plus 10% superannuation.
